Grace Lumpkin, born in So. Carolina (and at present a member of the National Committee for the Defense of Political Prisoners’ group investigating the lynching of Dan Pippen, Jr., and A.T. Harden, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.,) Miss Lumpkin is the author of the novel “To Make My Bread,” which was the recipient of the International Gorky Prize for Literature when it was issued last season.
