The shaking up that Justice Edmundson and Sheriff King, gave the “buzzard roost” section of Tukaloosa some time ago, has borne excellent fruit. There is not now a more orderly or quiet part of the city than this. The preliminary trial of J. Edward Thompson, of Cottondale, charged with shooting Prof. Stewart on Christmas day, which was set for yesterday before Justice Edmundson, was taken up at(the appointed time, but owing to the absence of a very important State witness, no less a person than Stewart himself, was continued until the 19th inst.
