Horrible Marder-We – regret to learn that a daughter of our worthy countyman, Mr. James Thornton, who resides in the lower part of the county, was brutally murdered, on Sunday eve- ning last, by one of his own negro mene The deceased was the only daughter of Mr. T., aged about fourteen years, and was an universal fa- vorite with all who knew her. As far as we can learn the negro was instigated to this horrible deed by tiendish motives alone. The negro is now in jail, and having confessed the whole, he will doubtless suffer the severest penalty which the law provides in such cases. Sumter County Democrat.
