L. A. Clayton and Eugene Doss being submitted to the Court of Appeals at the call of this division in April. Local attorneys interested in the case inform us that these cases will not be submitted at this time. Although the Clerk has been working incessantly on the transcript. It is not yet completed and will not be in time for this call. It is one of the most voluminous documents of this kind ever prepared in this County. These men were charged with kidnapping and whipping Jeff Calloway, an Etowah county youth, the kidnapping taking place in Blount, and the whipping being administered in Jefferson county by Jefferson County citizens. The parties are alleged to have been members of the Ku Klux Klan. The trial last August created wide-spread interest and the action of the Court of Appeals is being eagerly awaited.
