Transcript: | Killed While Resisting Arrest. BIRMINGHAM, ALA., August 13. Deputy Sheriff Joe Nelson, at Brockwood mines, in Tuskaloosa County, went to arrest Will McKay, a miner, late last night on a charge of assault with intent to murder. McKay pulled a pistol from his boots and offered resistance, but before he could use the weapon Nelson filled him full of slugs from a double-barreled shotgun. McKay lived five hours before dying. McKay a few days ago shot several times at another miner, who was keeping company with McKay’s mother, and the warrant was issued therefor. |
