Richard Burton, aged 18, colored, was lynched some time Monday night by a mob 13 miles from Boyd Station, near Livingston, Ala., and Lige Burton, his cousin, and Steve Knight, are in jail charged with burglary. A store operated by Miss Peale, near the scene of the lynching, has been robbed five times recently. On Monday night her brother found three colored men in the act of robbing the store again and he succeeded in capturing Burton who was promptly lynched.
