Transcript: | BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 21.-A desperate shooting affray occurred at Woodstock, 30 miles below here, between John Herring and his brother Pink, prominent merchants, on one side and Taylor Collins, a negro, on the other. John Herring was shot in the neck and died in 5 minutes. Collins was shot in the chin and shoulder seriously. The negro owed the Herrings for the rent of a house and that caused the tragedy. |
