| Transcript: | NEGRO WHO ESCAPED HANGING WILL DIE FROM WOUNDS MONTGOMERY, Jan. 22.–A special from Dothan to the Journal says: It develops today that the negro Cleveland Franklin, strung up and shot by a mob Sunday night, will, after all, die. An examination today shows that he was shot badly. The fatal wound is in the kidneys. A guard was placed about the jail Monday night but no attempt was made to further molest the wounded negro. |
