Transcript: | Mobile, Ala., April 20. – A special to the Item from Bay Minette, Baldwin county, Alabama, says that Dock Cole, a prominent merchant and assistant postmaster at Liver River, in the northern part of Baldwin county, was foully murdered last night by negroes. Robbery was the motive. A posse organized and two negroes, Robert Tate and Rube Sims, were arrested. Tate confessed and a lynching is feared. Sheriff Armstrong left for the scene of the crime this morning. |
