RACE RIOTERS IN ALABAMA TOWN KILL TWO MORE Negro Man and Woman Shot to Death Yesterday When They Refused to Obey Commands of White Posse Seeking Cul- prits in Fourth Riots FOUR STILL SOUGHT Emelle, Ala., July 7-(AP)-Ri- fles and pistols were sheathed to- day as this strife torn village com- pleted the burial of two white men and four negroes-slain in disor- ders arising from an Independence Day debt dispute. Four other negroes, each with a price of $300 on his head, still were at large, but nearly all of several hundred possement had given up a three day manhunt instituted after a negro family engaged in a gun fight with a white family over the payment of an automobile battery. An unidentified negro and Viola Dial, a negro woman, were the last two killed, shot to death yester- day when the commands of white searchers were not obeyed. Pre- viously Grover Boyd and Charlie Marrs, both white men, were killed and a negro was lynched and an- other fatally shot. Both of the ne- groes were kinsmen of Tom Rob- ertson, who fled with his three sons The unidentified negro killed yes- terday, officers said, shot and wounded Clarence Bush, a white man, upon being ordered to sub- mit to a search. The negro wo- man was slain when her husband failed to halt his automobile at the command of possemen. On Independence Day Tom Rob- ertson and his sons attacked Clar- ence Boyd after he reclaimed an automobile battery for which the negroes had not paid. Grover Boyd, an uncle of Clar- ence, ran to his aid and was fatal- ly shot. A crowd gathered, lynched Ja- cob Robertson, who participated in the attack, fired the home of John Robertson, a relative, and shot him to death when he killed Charlie Marrs, a white posseman, and wounded Jim Ayers, another whit man.
