Sheriff May says that he and Perry Hood made another raid Saturday in an adjoinnig community and found a still and one gallon of booze, but made no arrests. Monday they made another raid into Raleigh beat and caught two negroes, Jerry Brown and Sam Cook, at or near a still with wood in their arms going toward the still. The still was not in action, and these men claimed to know nothing of it’s being there, but they were so close to it that the officers felt justified in arresting them and they were lodged in jail. The officers stated that there were 180 gallons of beer ready to’ make at the time the arrest was made. Both still and beer were destroyed. Jerry Brown has been out of the pen but a few weeks, having been arrested by Mr. May last year and convicted of making liquor in Tuscaloosa county. This time the sheriff found him on the Pickens side of the county line and he will face the same charge here. Cook is re- ported to be a pretty good negro.
