TELEGRAMS DENY LYNCHING REPORT Special to The Birmingham News. SELMA Ala., March 16- Passengers from Pineapple on the Pensacola train Tuesday night brought information that the two negroes, Ed and Will Ptomey, who on Monday shot and seriously wounded Professor Hardy at Pineapple, had been lynched Tuesday at noon near Allenton, in Wilcox county, but numerous telegrams received here from Pineapple and Allenton deny the report and say that the two negroes have not yet been captured. Later–Authentic reports received late yesterday from Pineapple state that the reported lynching was erroneous. The report grew out of a statement made by a passenger who came to Selma from Allenton Monday night and merely gave out the report as a rumor.
