To Investigate Hayes Case.
Grand Jury of Chatham County To Hold Special Session
Savannah, GA. August 12. –(Special.)-
A special session of the grand jury of the superior court will, in all probability, be held tomorrow afternoon for the purpose of taking action in the case of Seaborn Hayes, under arrest for the murder of Motorman Lucius Varnadoe, and of Joe Floyd, who is Hayes’s alleged accomplice. There are three other negroes under arrest for harboring these criminals and their case will also be given attention. This murder has created much excitement here and all of the street car people are clamoring for immediate punishment of the guilty parties.
It is likely that the trail of the case will take place very shortly after the indictments are found.
