On Sunday night May 24th, Mr. Walter Leslie Thompson passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Evan Higbee after a painful and lingering illness.

Mr. Thompson was born at Bromley, Ala., September 17th, 1849, and has always been a resident of Baldwin County. He was married at Yupon, Ala., March 8th, 1894 to Miss Lucia B. Moulton of Charlotte Mich., to this union were born, three daughters.

His wife passed to the great beyond more than twenty years ago, and one daughter died in her tenth year. He is survived by his two daughters Mrs. Russel Haley of Mobile and Mrs. Even Higbee of Belforest. Mr. Thompson was a well known resident of Daphne for many years. He had served in many public offices of Baldwin County and for 12 years was Daphne’s faithful postmaster. He retired from offive four years ago and has since made his home with his daughter Helen. He was a long and patient sufferer showing his Christian spirit in his kind, loving treatment of all with whom he came in contact. He was a faithful, member for many years of the Daphne Methodist Church from which his interment took place Monday afternoon at 2:30 P.M. His surviving daughters have the sympathy of their host of friends in their sad bereavement.
