Alabama Murderers Taken to Montgomery for Safe Keeping Till Wanted Montgomery, Ala., April 3– Tonight Sheriff Sedberry and deputies of Elmore county brought Josephus and Will Jowell, John Morgan,, John Edwards, Sr., and Alonzo Adwards, Tutor Ingram, G.M. Witchen, charged with murder to this city for safe-keeping. They are charged with the murder of Rufus Swindler near Wetumpka last week. Yesterday one of the number after being arrested confessed that they formed a band and entered into a compact to kill Rufus Swindler whom they wre afraid would inform the federal officers of their practice of making whiskey. They are white cappers and went to Swindler’s house at night, beat him and wife, and dragged him out of bed, and shot him dead. They had their faces blacked. ohn Edwards, Sr., and Kitchen came to Wetumpka today to employ council for the prioners and were arrested also.
