COLLINS JAILED. Centreville, Ala., Apr. 22. Special to Gazette: Taylor Collins, the negro who killed John Herring, a white man, at Woodstock, Bibb county, a few days ago, was safely landed in jail here last night. He was brought here by Deputy Sheriff Golson from Blocton. Golson received information that a crowd was coming from Woodstock to Blocton to lynch Collins so he hastened to bring the negro to the county jail here. The justice before whom the preliminary trial was held remanded Collins to jail without bail. Everything is quiet here and no fears are entertained that any attempt will be made to lynch Collins. Circuit court meets here on May 1st and a speedy trial can be had.
