| Transcript: | DEPUTY BREWER SHOT BY NEGRO. Deputy Sheriff J. H. Brewer, who was shot by a negro whom he attempted to arrest near Samantha Friday morning, was reported as getting on fairly well last night, and it is not believed the wound will prove serious. Deputy Brewer went to serve a warrant on a negro, Dony Cook, Friday morning about 9 o’clock, when the negro fired on him with a shot gun. His head and face were filled with shot. The negro was later arrested and brought to the city by Mr. A. J. Chappell. He is now in the county jail. |
