Transcript: | A prominent gentleman remarked yesterday morning to a GAZETTE reporter that he would head a list with $50 toward buying a home for Mrs. Awtry, the wife of the late J. M. Awtrey, who was so foully slain by Jim Seams. He thought this a better way to show our sympathy for the family of a brave officer than to try to lynch his slayer, when the law was certain to hang him. Now let some one start the ball to rolling with $50 more, and show by other than words that we appreciated the services of the dead man. |
