(Continued On Page Two) GUNS SHEATHED AFTER THREE DAY HUNT BY POSSES Two White Men And Four Negroes Slain In Alabama, Four Negroes At Large EMELLE. ALA. – (A.P.) – Riflés and pistols were sheathed today as this strife torn village completed the burial of its dead-two white men and four negroes-slain in disorders arising from an Independence Day debt dispute. Four other negroes, each with a prize of $300 on his head: still were at large, but virtually all of several hundred white possemen had given up E three day manhum, Instituted after a negro family engaged in & gun light with a white family over the payment for an automobile bat- very. Two Killed Sunday. An unidentified negro man and Viole Dial, a negro woman, were the last two killed. They were shot to death yesterday when the com- mands of white searchers were not obeyed. Previously Grover Boyd and Charbe Marrs, both white men. were killed and in turn a negro was lynched and another fatally shot. Both of the negroes were kinsmen of Tom Robertson who with three sons, filed and has not been appre- hended. The unidentified negro killed yes- Marday, officers said, replied with bulleta and wounded Clarence Bush, stwite man, upon being ordered to submit to search. The negro WO. man was alain when her husband failed to halt his automobile at the command of possement. How It Started On Independence Day Tom Rob erison and his sons attacked Clar- once Boyd after he had reclaimed an automobile battery for which the negroes had failed to pay him. Grover Boyd. an uncle of Clar- once ran to his aid and was fatally shot by one of the negroes.
