| Transcript: | Escaped to Hell. Birmingham, Ala.., May 29-Jeff Thomas, the negro who assaulted Mrs. J.V. Neal at Townley a week ago, was captured last night and supposed to have been lynched. The posse captured him, but when the sheriff came he discovered the negro missing. All the captors would say was that Thomas had escaped to hell.
