Transcript: | Lynched. Strasburg, Ala., June 6. The body of “Jim” Powell, negro, was found hanging to a tree limb Wednesday near this place. Monday night Powell entered the residence of John Bussy, a well – known farmer near here, and assaulted a young danghter of the farmer. The father hearing the girl’s screams went to her assistance, but the negro escaped. The negro was pursued by a posse and captured near Calera, 15 miles away. . He waa carried before the girl, who identified him. |
