MOVING AGAINST LYNCHERS. Governor Johnson Will Prosecute Their Pursuit Vicariously. Publishers Press Dispatch. Wetumpka, Ala., Sept. 21.–Three months ago an aged white farmer and his wife living near this place were robbed and murdered in their home. The following day five negores were arrested charged with the crime. Four were taken from the Wetumpka jail by a mob and lynched. The fifth Joe Thompson escaped. Last Saturday he was captured and three citizens started with him for the jail at Dadeville. They returned and reported that the prisoner had escaped. The following day his disembowled body was found in the Tallapoosa River. He had evidently been murdered. Gov. Johnston has offered $200 reward for the arrest of his murderers, and will prosecutre the case vigorously.
