Miss., November 29.–(Special) Meagre particulars of a horrible tragedy which occurred about a mile north of Brooksville yesterday afternoon are learned here. Earnest Dismukes, a young officer of Artesia, went to Brooksville to arrest a negro. Before he could succeed in his purpose the negro covered him with a shot gun and emptied a load of buckshot into his breast. He then made good his escape. The country is being scoured for him, but up to this hour he has not been caught. Dismukes was a young man of good family. |
