NEGRO SUSPECT IS HELD IN FLORENCE May Be A Member Of The Robertson Family FLORENCE, Ala., July 24.-(AP)- Sheriff W. L. Stutts, of Lauderdale county, today announced arrest of a negro, believed to be a member of the Robertson family, wanted in connection with the Fourth of July outbreak at Emelle. The negro was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on the highway near here and was brought to the county jail, where he will be questioned by the sheriff late today. Three negroes, John Ollis and Tom Robertson have been sought since the trouble in the Sumpter county village resulted in the death of two white men and four negroes. Ten members of the negro fam- ily are being held in Kilby prison for safekeeping, pending comple- tion of the state’s investigation of the disorders.
