SHOT. LEWIS BROWN KILLED MY O.J. QUINN

Saturday night about 9:45 Lewis Brown, colored, a miner employed at the Hospital, was shot and killed by a white man named O. J. Quian. the shooting occurred on the street immediately fronting the store of H. P. Walker & Co., and created the wildest excitement. For some hours the identity of the man who did the killing remained a mystery, but early yesterday morning Quinn admitted : having fired the fatal shot and surrendered himself to the authorities, claiming the deed to have been done in self defense. Quinn was placed in the county jail. Quinn is an employe of the hospital. Coroner Lewis empanelled a jury over the remains of the dead man and the following was their verdict: “We, the jury, find the deceased to be Lewis Brown and he came to his death from the wound of a pistol shot, taking effect in the right breast and fired by O. J. Quinn.”
