Transcript: | Franklin Will Die. Montgomery, January 21. A special from Dothan to the Journal says: It develops today that the negro Cleveland Franklin, strung up and shot by a mob Sunday night, will, after all, die. An examination today shows that he was shot badly. The fatal wound is in the kidneys. A guard was placed about the jail last night but no attempt was made to further molest the wounded negro.
