Jim Harris His Name. The Negro From Coaling and His Alleged Crime. The Gazette noted yesterday the presence in the county jail of Jim Harris, a negro from Coaling, who was brought here Wednesday night for safe keeping. The negro on Monday night entered the home of Mr. Hillman Cobb, a well known farmer from coaling, and when he had eaten supper in the dining room he passed into the room occupied by Mr. Cobb’s daughters. When he put his hand on one of them, she was awakened and screamed out. The negro fled. The negro is now in jail charged with an attempted assault.
