Transcript: | Jury at Camden Failed to Agree. Will Ptomy, the negro who shot Prof. Claude Hardy at Pine Apple about two months ago, was tried in Camden last week, and the jury failed to reach a decision. Eleven were in favor of conviction, and one for acquittal, and on their failure to agree the judge ordered a mistrial. The Wilcox Progresive Era, among other things, says: “No comment is in order. We simply bow, and suggest that the public do not attempt to hold its breath till a satisfactory reason is found.” |
