Transcript: | Lively Christmas at Tuskaloosa, Special to The Times-Democrat. TUSKALOOSA, Dec. 25.-There was considerable excitement on the streets last night over the shooting of Gus Webb, a negro, by Policeman Nicholls, the last one taking effect in the negro’s arm, causing a painful wound. Immediately after the shooting it was feared that a riot would be precipitated, and the Warrior Guards were ordered to assemble at their armory, but the crowd of excited negroes soon dispersed without any riotous demonstrations. |
