Transcript: | On Wednesday evening last, a man by the name of Craig, shot and severely wounded a freedman Allen Williams, in this city. What the difficulty originated about, we did not learn, Williams received two shots, one in the arm and the other the hand. Craig, we learned, was intoxicated at the time. He was promptly arrested by the military guard, stationed in this city, and is now in confinement awaiting orders from the headquarters. The above is copied from the Tuscaloosa Reconstruction, and we could believe that Mr. Allen A. Williams is anti-ku-klax man who John Hardy for so great an interest in, still lives. It is surprising that the city … won’t let this ‘gentleman’ rest in peace. |
